At Friendly People That Care, our vision is to improve the quality of life for individuals less fortunate physically and emotionally needing assistance, love, and care that can only be installed through actions and concerns from Friendly People That Care.

  Owner and
  Director of   Operations

When you think of the definition of home, you envision something that is welcoming and relaxing, and something that encompasses your everyday way of living. The group homes of Friendly People That Care are just that; they each offer a safe, unique and welcoming atmosphere that each consumer can eventually call "home."

The staff at Friendly People That Care are specially trained in CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration, Clients Rights Confidentiality, NC-I, Bloodbourne Pathogens, among other certifications. We take the time and effort needed to effectively train our staff to ensure the highest quality service inside and outside of the group homes for our consumers.

As we continue to grow, we have opened our new day program facility which provides organized developmental activities for adults with developmental disabilities to prepare the individual to live and work as independently as possible. The activities and services of an Adult Developmental Activities Program are designed to adhere to the principles of normalization and community integration aimed at increasing age-appropriate actions, images and appearance of the individual.

Friendly People That Care will provide activities to include group and independent activities, personal and community living skill development, adult basic education and long-term support and follow-up. The amount of time devoted to these areas varies considerably depending on the needs of the clients served.

About Us

Friendly People That Care was founded in January 2006 by Angela Curry with our first and only Reynolds Forest group home. Since then, we have grown to include five group homes that span across the Triad area, including Winston-Salem, Kernersville, and Clemmons. We are an organization that believes that our consumers are top priority, and we will do anything and everything to ensure they are provided the utmost care and service.

Friendly People That Care opened our first day program in Kernersville in June 2010 as we started to see the need for a quality day program for our consumers to attend throughout the day. With so much interest and success with the first day program, we opened our second day program a year later.

Our day programs are designed to encourage growth for our consumers that attend.  The day programs are not only for our consumers that live in our group homes though.  We welcome anyone interested in enrolling in our day program, and you can submit an application for enrollment to our day program anytime throughout the week.  You can find the application for enrollment in the sidebar to your right located under "Quick Links."

EARTH DAY 2012

What started off as an Earth Day project by our Day Program directors, ended up as Friendly People That Care being recognized by the town of Kernersville.  As of April 18th, 2012 the day program of Friendly People That Care received the 2012 Art for Earth Contest from Dawn H. Morgan,  mayor of Kernersville, NC!  The consumers at the Day Program designed clay pots in which they planted vegetables and plants, and won 1st place after being recognized by a representative from the contest.  Next year, the day program staff and consumers plan on re-entering into the contest to be apart of the Special Needs category started thanks to the consumers of Friendly People That Care!
